The 60-year-old former First Lady took to the stage at the Democratic National Convention earlier this week to take a swipe at Donald Trump after he previously made a controversial comment about immigrants stealing “Black jobs.”

During the first Presidential Debate back in June, we heard the Republican nominee try and rustle up some trouble, accusing “immigrants” of taking “Black jobs” – whatever they may be.

“They’re taking Black jobs now and it could be 18, it could be 19 and even 20 million people,” the former said in the debate about the role immigrants play in the U.S. economy. “They’re taking Black jobs, and they’re taking Hispanic jobs, and you haven’t seen it yet, but you’re going to see something that’s going to be the worst in our history.”

Obama used her speech at Tuesday’s Democratic National Convention to call out Trump’s divisive speech, sharing the perfect cutting comeback.

“Now unfortunately we know what comes next. We know folks are going to do everything they can to distort [Kamala Harris’s] truth,” she said after praising the Democratic presidential nominee’s leadership.

“My husband and I sadly know a little something about this,” she continued. “For years, Donald Trump did everything in his power to try to make people fear us. See, his limited, narrow view of the world made him feel threatened by the existence of two hard-working, highly educated, successful people who happened to be Black.

“I want to know,” she added. “Who’s going to tell him that the job he’s currently seeking might be one of those ‘Black jobs’?”

Of course, the comment received a wild reception at the venue and the praise even started taking over on social media after a snippet of her speech was reposted there.

“Michelle Obama read that man for entire filth,” commented one user, while another added: “She went offff with this one.”

A third also stated: “My 81 year old Dad laughing and crying at the same time watching this.”

Obama also described his statement as a “con,” adding: “It’s his same old con. [He’s] doubling down on ugly, misogynistic, racist lies as a substitute for real ideas and solutions that will actually make people’s lives better.”

Elsewhere, she also compared Harris’s relatability against Trump’s, alluding to the fact that he grew up privileged while others did not.

“[Harris] understands that most of us will never be afforded the grace of ‘failing forward,'” she said during her speech.

“If we bankrupt a business, or choke in a crisis, we don’t get a second, third, or fourth chance,” she continued, hinting at Trump’s business failures and generational wealth. “If things don’t go our way, we don’t have the luxury of whining or cheating others to get further ahead, no. We don’t get to change the rules so we always win. If we see a mountain in front of us, we don’t expect to see an escalator waiting to get us to the top.

“It couldn’t be more obvious: Of the two major candidates in this race, only Kamala Harris truly understands the unseen labor and unwavering commitment that has always made America great,” she added.

The 2024 United States presidential election will be the 60th quadrennial presidential election, set to be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.
